In 1980s Dublin, 15-year-old Conor’s guitar is his way of dealing with most things- from blocking out the noise of his parents arguing, to finding new friends at his rough new school, to impressing a mysterious older girl he’s noticed at the school gates. When Conor persuades the beautiful Raphina to be in a music video, he’s under pressure to actually form a band. With a motley crew of his new classmates he forms ‘Sing Street’- a band that is heavily influenced in sound and image by all the latest hits, from the New Romantics to Depeche Mode. A joyous and very funny coming-of-age tale that deals with serious issues while remaining defiantly optimistic.
Infrequent strong language, drug use, moderate sex references, smoking.
