Synopsis

Cassie spends her time on weekends going to clubs and pretending to be blind drunk. She waits for a “nice guy” to take her home and when he tries to force himself on her, she surprises him. Cassie does this because of a traumatic event in her past inflicted upon her best friend Nina by their medical school classmates who have gone unpunished. Cassie believes it’s time to take matters into her own hands and decides to track down those involved in the act and the subsequent investigation. But when one of her classmates, Ryan, re-enters her life and a romance starts to develop between the two, Cassie must choose between her desire for revenge and her own potential future happiness. ‘Promising Young Woman’ is a dark, razor-sharp comment on contemporary society’s treatment of women, particularly in relation to victim-blaming, predatory behaviour, and sexual assault.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
