Jane is an aspiring film producer who has landed an assistant role with a film company. At the bottom of the job ladder, she works long hours for little recognition, doing low-level mundane work such as endlessly photocopying documents but also unrelated tasks that seem to be an unwritten expectation of junior female employees. A tense aura surrounds Jane’s boss, an unseen media mogul who operates behind closed doors at the heart of the labyrinthine office. The film weaves together the daily workplace micro-aggressions that undermine Jane’s confidence, until an uneasy realisation leads her to want to speak out – the trouble is, will she be heard? Filmed in the aftermath of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, this unnerving drama highlights ongoing issues beyond the #MeToo movement with a powerful commentary on toxic work culture and sexual harassment.
