Synopsis
The publication of pictures depicting the abuse of prisoners by American guards at Abu Ghraib jail is perhaps the single most notorious moment to emerge from the occupation of Iraq. The graphic scenes shocked the world, and did serious damage to the US claim that they had come to help the Iraqis. This documentary, by Oscar-winning director Errol Morris, is an incredibly thorough, patient and fair-minded attempt to understand what those photos really showed, and what happened at Abu Ghraib, and why.
