This course is part of Teaching Literacy Through Film, a series of short learning experiences focusing on specific areas of literacy.
Inspire pupils to dig beneath the surface of a narrative with Developing Comprehension with Film.
This short course explores how the moving image can help shift the learning focus from simple decoding to interpretation, allowing learners of all abilities read and break down narratives that would be beyond them as a written text.
You’ll discover strategies to support questioning and character analysis to create classrooms of ‘image detectives’ who are skilled at scanning and retrieving information and interpreting texts.
As you learn, you have a chance to try the activities and join discussions with the community of educators to help build your confidence. You’ll also get access to short films and downloadable lesson resources so you’ll have everything you need when you’re ready to deliver to your class.
By the end of this course, you will be able to use film to:
Enrol for free today.
