Into Film Clubs
Find out everything you need to know about starting an Into Film Club.
Into Film's careers programme brings professional filmmakers of all kinds directly to schools and Into Film Clubs, giving young people the opportunity to learn about film industry job roles first-hand through curriculum-linked workshops and activities. Our aim is to raise pupils' aspirations and educate them in the wide range of roles available to them in the film industry.
Stunt performer and trainer Tyler Kennington, from Take 3 Academy, visited St. Monica Primary School in Cardiff, Wales, to deliver a workshop around stunts and stunt techniques in feature film.
Kennington worked with Year 6 students in a workshop linked to the PE curriculum, which looked at the skills and physical attributes required by a stunt performer, and suggested how developing skills such as balance, coordination and flexibility at a young age can help lead to a future career in stunts. Having a professional from the film industry come into school to work with the children was very inspiring; it enabled us to provide new experiences and broaden horizons.
Abi Beacon, Headteacher at St Monica Primary School, Cardiff, Wales
Kennington discussed the importance of keeping a healthy body and eating well, emphasising how maintaining one's physical health can support and contribute to an individual's general well-being and positive behaviours, as well priming them for stunt work in a potential future career. In addition, pupils were encouraged to consider and value key skills such as communication, teamwork and respecting others.
Abi Beacon, Headteacher at St Monica Primary School, said "The stunts workshop has encouraged the children to think about how they can use their PE skills in the world of work beyond wishing to be a professional footballer! Having a professional from the film industry come into school to work with the children was very inspiring; it enabled us to provide new experiences and broaden horizons; a key element in the new curriculum for Wales."
